Twins

I was asked to make a card for a lady who was having twins. They didn’t know the sex of the babies, so it had to be in neutral colours. They also asked to feature a pram, somehow.

When I was doing a bit of research, a lot of the cards were either pink or blue or a combination of both.

Here I have used Certainly Celery and Barely Banana. Alternate the colours so that it blends well, then layer that against Very Vanilla and it becomes very soft indeed.

 

 

I couldn’t stop at one card.

I have just purchased glossy card stock and a brayer. So I was eager to try a new technique.

I found some small baby images and stamped them in versamark on the glossy card stock. You then ink up your brayer and roll over the card stock. This leaves you with a subtle image in the background.

Again, I have alternated  the two colours, attempting to blend and  bring the two separate parts to the card together.

As I have said before, May is quite a month. it is also my son’s birthday as well. So I have been very creative, and needed to come up with three cards for his birthday. One from his sister, one from his Aunt, and one from us(mum and dad). The one above, is from his sister. Now, who would have thought that boys cards could have glitter? But the new Fine Supernova Glitter is available in five colours. The chocolate adds some pizazz to his card. I stamped non SU eleven in close to cocoa, the 2-way glue pen was fine enough to allow me to trace over the numbers and then I just sprinkled on the chocolate glitter and what a transformation!

The DSP is from the 6×6 pad that is a level 1 hostess gift. There is over 60 sheets in five colours and I am so glad that Stampin’ Up! is trialing alternative hostess gifts this year. The cute caterpillar is from the stamp set Bugs and Kisses.

 

 

 

 

 

 

His Aunt forgot to send a card from interstate in time to reach Nathan for his birthday, so I agreed to make one for her. It gave me a chance to use one of the new “In Colours” Riding Hood Red. I am certainly liking this colour. I also got to play with a new stamp set called Starring You. It co-ordinates with the Simply Sent Card Elements.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sometimes you have to experiment with colours that wouldn’t be your first choice. Brocade Blue, Kiwi Kiss and Sahara Sand is the combination that I feel turned out fine. Sometimes it goes against everything that we ever learn in fashion. “Blue and green should never be seen…”

The hedgehog is embossed in black. It stands out better against the silver brads. The brad in the middle is a Star Designer Brad.
