Offcuts of Polished Stone

When I make backgrounds such as the Polished Stone background you saw in the last post, I tend to cut out my card stock equal in size to a card front. That way I have “off cuts” I can also play with.

This is what I came up with, when playing with the “off cuts”. I still used the stamp set Baroque Motifs as well as the same colour combination of Pink Pirouette, Pale Plum and Rose Red. I just used entirely different layouts for both cards.

I changed the words and the accessories to include Rhinestone Brads and Designer Brads, even changing the centre brad to highlight the colour combination further.

Polished Baroque

A While ago, I finally managed to purchase some Glossy white card stock and ink refills. I had eagerly wanted to attempt the “polished stone” background.

One of my favourite all-rounder stamp sets is Baroque Motifs. The large swirl stamp is extremely useful. It lends itself to all types of styles and occasions. You can use it for backgrounds or the main image (as I have done here).

Here is a very girlie card I made for my Sister’s Birthday. The colours I have used include Pink Pirouette, Pale Plum and Rose Red. In case you have forgotten, Pale Plum is one of the retiring colours, and will only be available until sold out, even if that means before the release of the new Ideas Book and Catalogue in September 2010.

Colour Renovation

Fond_Farewell_Colors_AU_NZ_0410

New_Colors_AU_NZ_0410

When the new Ideas Book and Catalogue comes out in September, there will be an alteration to the colour families as we know it. There will be a lot of colours retiring, In colours will be returning as permanent colours, there will be a shuffle of colours through out the colour families and instead of 12 colours in each family there will only be 10.

Now this sounds like a huge amount of change. It is. But in reality there will only be 5 “new” colours in all of this, as many old “in colours” will be returning.

It has taken me a couple of weeks to get my head around this, but I like it. It is fresh and up-to-date. It is going to take us into the future and remain trendy. And the shuffle of colours to different colour families will also give us more opportunity to put colours together that perhaps we haven’t thought about before. And there will be more opportunity to access inks as well as card stock with the new Neutrals range.

So take a few minutes to browse the pdf above or even check out the website.

Just remember, if there is a particular colour that is retiring that is your absolute favourite and you just can not live without, it will only be available until stock lasts, so I suggest you drop me a line and order it soon.

Baby Nephew

During May we proudly welcomed another Nephew into the world.

Welcome.

I had come across a cute Non SU ribbon bundle in the shape of the bibs.

What a perfect opportunity to use them now.

Teamed up with Very Vanilla, Barely Banana, Bashful Blue and Brocade Blue card stock. The Duck image was taken from the set in the retired Summer Mini catalogue “Wagon Full of Fun”. Lets hope it makes a return in the new catalogue out in September.

All you need to add a dash of colour is some blender pens and ink, whether it be from an ink pad an ink spot or a marker.
